on the boards: Barnes Foundation

The renown Barnes art collection, will in 2012 move to a new Tod Williams and Billie Tsien designed structure in Philadelphia’s museum district. Interesting the project is being met with heavy criticism even before the foundation has been cast.

They ( the current remote location for the collection)also serve as a kind of screening system, discouraging the kind of visitors who are just looking for a way to kill time.

If this is the heavy criticism, spare me. Barnes was an irascible old coot and made his collection inaccessible out of spite and I am glad it is now going to be for everyone.

I think there was a piece on NPR about this project. I'm too lazy to look for it though :o)
