on the boards: African American Museum

The Smithsonian Institution recently unveiled conceptual designs of the African American Museum to be located along the Mall (Washington, DC) from six architects (mostly collaborations with international architects and local firms). Most seem to be tackling an aesthetic suitable for the emotional representation of an African American Museum.

I am most taken by Foster & Associates who has presented a project unlike those in his oeuvre with a striking reference towards journey.

I actually preferred the Foster & Associates concept. As you said the focus on journey as a concept. As embodied by the ramp especially. Plus, the exterior/outdoor space/ampitheater seemed a great wat to combine programs and functions...

Oh also, congrats on the visitor count!!
