Conference: Forum on Caribbean Architecture

The Federation of Caribbean Associations of Architects (FCAA) is hosting a conference and forum on Caribbean Architecture entitled, Caribbean, beyond architectural and urban characteristics in the culture of our people. The conference will be held in Santiago de Cuba from the 5th to 7th July 2013.

Sessions will include

• Caribbean Vernacular Architecture. Conservation Strategies
• Contemporary architecture in the Caribbean

Architectural Historian and Senior Lecturer at the Caribbean School of Architecture, Dr. Elizabeth Pigou-Dennis will be presenting a paper entitled "Embracing Modernity: The Transformation of Jamaica's Architecture after 1962" as part of the History at Fifty Conference at the University of the West Indies. The event will be held on Saturday, 10th November 2012 at the Council Room, UWI, Mona at 1:30pm.

FCAA Conference: Prototyping New Logics

The Federation of Caribbean Architectural Associations will be hosting the 5th Congress and conference on the 27th - 30th October 2010 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The conference is entitled Prototyping New Logics for Architectural Production and Connectivity, and will be hosted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico.

In Our Space

The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine will be hosting a one day symposium, entitled Art, Design and Architecture in our Space: New Perspectives on Art and Design Practice in the Caribbean to be held at the Institute of Critical Thinking, UWI, St. Augustine on 6^th October 2010.

Sixteen panellists drawn from the fields of art, design and architecture, as well as researchers from related disciplines will present papers at the Symposium. The Symposium papers will be published after the event.

The Department of Architecture, Assiut University - Egypt presents the 8th International Architectural Conference under the theme Contemporary Issues in Architecture & the Built Environment

School and Classroom Design Symposium

The Education Discussion Group is hosting a symposium on the topic of school and classroom design as well as its impact on teaching and learning. Literature and policy documents on education and training are replete with indicators that speak of the ‘interactive, experiential, and dynamic’ climate of schools of the future and the symposium aims to grapple with school design issues through the lens of hypothetical scenarios that are reflective of real-world strengths and weaknesses.

The Education Discussion Group (EDG) is a 25 member, voluntary non-profit organization started in 2004 that shares a common interest in the furthering of education and training in Trinidad and Tobago.

DoCo MoMo | Curacao

What was the social and political impact of the architectural Modern Movement on the island of Curaçao and other neighbouring countries?

This is the central theme of the first regional DoCoMoMo conference to be held in Curaçao in co-operation with the University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA) from 27th to to 29th April 2009. A number of renown architects from the Caribbean region will be presenting cases of the Modern Movement in their respective home countries.
