Originally designed by
Scott Tallon Walker Architects for Sir Basil Goulding in 1971 - 1973 the summerhouse is located on a manicured garden site in Enniskerry, Ireland it was restored 2002. The modern residence is delicately perched on the banks of the Dargle Valley cantilevering the remainder of the 142m
2 house over the river, minimally disturbing the natural vegetation.
Is there a bed in this summer house? I'm also a little bit dubious about the claim of not disturbing the natural vegetation -- if the house sat a bit more comfortably back on the lawn, the experience would be nearly the same from inside and would only destroy a small patch of already un-natural lawn. It's certainly impressive, but i want the design to be more than a gimmick.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous area, though.
Interesting structure in a stunning location. I love that section overhanging the river, although if it were my house I’d like part of it to be a balcony to better enjoy the sight and sound of the outdoors.
