House of the Week 168: Serengeti House


This contemporary tropical house, designed Nico van der Meulen Architects sits on the periphery of a popular golf course in Johannesburg, South Africa. Conceived for a family seeking modern amenities, the building interior tempers natural elements of rock and wood, against man-made materials of glass and steel.

New Work: Tiroler Festspiele Erl Festival Hall

The Tiroler Festspiele Erl’s new Festival Hall was designed by Austrian architectural practice Delugan Meissl Associates. Sited against a background of rock formations, the facade of the Festival Hall mimics the surrounding topography. Completed in August 2012 the interior equally borrows from the context with a plane of angular acoustic baffles, finished in rich laminates of timber that gives coherence to the architectural layout.

On the Boards: School of Planning & Architecture, Bhopal


The School of Planning & Architecture located in Bhopal, India was designed by Abin design studio. The project was conceived as a series of pavilions laid out along a central landscaped promenade to give students them the freedom to sit, walk, create and imagine at leisure as well facilitates the inevitable future expansion of the school.

This is a proposed mixed use and residential development designed by Studio Seilern Architects on a 31 hectare waterfront site along Jabi Lake in Abuja, Nigeria. The buildings are designed as series of 15m x 15m blocks arranged into clusters of two, three or four high components to vary density and maximize the views.

Installation ::: The Little Free Library


The Little Free Library was created as part of the Pen World Voices Festival by Sterotank in collaboration with the Architectural League of New York. The temporary and weatherproof installation allows users to take or return books and has available tables and chairs for users to use. The eventual plan is build 2,500 libraries all around the world & you can order a Little Free Library for your neighbourhood.
